One Cup Irani Chai :
Irani Chai and Osmania Biscuits are synonymous with the culture of Hyderabad. You cannot miss the aroma brewing on the streets. In fact, a number of tea stalls and cafes sell the famous Irani Chai coupled with the delicious Osmania biscuits;both unique specialties of Hyderabad.
Well; if you have not tried it, then you have missed a unique taste. Dip an osmania biscuit in kadak Irani Chai. Savour the taste and you are bound to ask for more.
Nothing like Café Niloufer :
Although the ingredients of Irani Chai and Osmania biscuits across tea stalls and cafes are same, there is a wide disparity in the taste; thanks to the quality of ingredients used and method of preparation.
Café Niloufer the forty year old café situated at Lakdi ka Pul is well known for its well brewed Irani chai and its famous partner; osmania biscuit. The quality of ingredients and the method of cooking and baking add the special flavour. Try it, compare it and you will know what we are talking about.
Originally, Irani chai was a strong black tea. The Persians brought it to India and it soon transformed itself to match the India taste. The difference of Irani chai from other tea’s served in India is the different type of tea powder used and a special sweetness. Moreover, before the tea is poured, water and milk are boiled separately on a low flame. That is why; it is the ‘kadak’ chai with a difference. Irani chai gets its unique flavour from the low simmering too. It is common to see Irani chai boiling at cafes in large utensils for hours together. So, trying it at home is impossible.
However, Café Niloufer’s authentic taste is a treat for the taste buds.
Besides, Osmania biscuits, Café Niloufer also make a variety of biscuits, including the popular fruit biscuit of Hyderabad, which is something to die for. It is more of a dessert than a biscuit. It tastes good with tea and food. And, of course, when it is created by the expert hands at Café Niloufer, the taste becomes matchless. They also bake regular food items. However, once baked by them, they do not remain regular. Thanks to the high quality ingredients, the cooking method, the exclusive recipe; not to forget the love and affection, the taste of each of their items is unique.
Don’t believe us !
Try it and there will be no looking back.
The Underlying History:-

Well; Café Niloufer has not reached these heights through a genie’s wish or a fairy’s magic wand. There’s an interesting story behind the status at which it stands, forty years after its historic inception.
Babu Rao, the now proud owner of the popular café was once a sweeper in this café. His humble beginnings are from a village in Telangana. With great difficulty, he studied up till tenth standard. His father could not afford to educate him. Due to monetary issues, his father had to sell his beloved cow to fund Rao’s further education. To keep the sacrifice hidden from his son, he sold the cow at night. However, Babu Rao soon got to know about the sacrifice made by his father. As the cow meant a lot to his father, this sacrifice became a major milestone in his life. He then understood the importance of money and travelled to Hyderabad to earn a living. He slept on the platform for a few days. After this, he worked at Café Niloufer as a sweeper. He says that he began working there, as working at a bakery would ensure him of two meals a day. His hard work and perseverance soon attained him promotion after promotion. Back in 1978, he attained the rights to run the café. He began preparing tea and biscuits. The taste was much loved and soon there were queues lined up at the café for Babu Rao’s chai and biscuits. Profits began soaring and Rao bought the café in 1993. However, success never got onto him. He is still a humble man, who serves lots of hungry people at the MNJ Institute of Oncology and Regional cancer centre in Hyderabad at least twice a day. He says that the smile on a hungry person’s face on getting food is matchless.
Thanks to his belief of providing the best, he has soared great heights and success. What’s more, he believes that he would never serve his customers something that he does not like in taste. So, satisfying the taste buds of his loyal customers is his goal.
A new AC café has recently come up near the café, which serves same famous Osmania biscuits, tea and other food items.
So, if your taste buds are demanding something delicious, then Café Niloufer is your next stop.

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.
